Ar Yone Oo is a registered, non-political, non-sectarian and not-for-profit organization operating in various part of Myanmar. It is committed to serve the most vulnerable people without prejudice of gender, religious or ethnic background. It initiates the establishment and capacity building of Community Based Organizations (CBOs) for sustainability of development projects. Ar Yone Oo is running several projects in Myanmar with 70 staff members; its Head Office is in Yangon.

In May 2008 the Cyclone Nargis devasted the delta area of Myanmar including some parts of Yangon. Soon afterwards Ar Yone Oo was established and provided emergency assistance to the disaster victims for about 6 months with the help of international and national donors. The assistances included food item, non food item and safe water provision, temporary and semi permanent shelters and latrines, mobile clinic and health education sessions, psycho-social support etc.
After the disaster Ar Yone Oo geared its strategy from emergency relief to rehabilitation toward sustainable development in the region. Ar Yone Oo mainly provided livelihood assistance and capacity building to the project areas that included Bogale, Mawlamyaing Gyun and Laputta townships in Ayeyawadi Region, Mindon and Taungdwin Gyi in Magwe Region, and Myebon and Minbya in Rakhine State. It continued to extend its projects from livelihood development to DRR, microfinance and peace building activities in Tonzang, Tedim, Matupi, and Mindat Townships of Chin State, Kungyan Gone in Yangon Region, and Kalaymyo Township in Sagaing Region.
The above mentioned projects were implemented in partnership with Oxfam (GB), Norwegian People's Aid (NO), Mercy Corps (SU), LIFT (UNOPS), USAID (US), Burnet Institute (AU), Save the Children (GB), DFID (British Embassy), Triangle Génération humanitaire (FR) and SPAS (SE).
